Shangri-La shades (the same design Hunter Douglas calls Silhouette) suspend soft S-shaped fabric vanes between two sheer layers, so they appear to float in the window. Open the vanes for an unobstructed view, tilt them to diffuse daylight into a soft glow, or close them for privacy and UV protection. It's a refined, dimensional look that adds a quiet sophistication to any room.

What's the difference between Shangri-La and zebra shades?
Both blend sheer and solid elements. Shangri-La floats soft, S-shaped fabric vanes between two sheer layers for a gentle, three-dimensional, drapery-like glow. Zebra shades use flat alternating bands for a crisper, more graphic, modern look. Shangri-La reads more luxurious; zebra reads more contemporary.
Can I use them in a bedroom?
Yes — choose the blackout vane fabric. When the opaque vanes overlap, they provide excellent room darkening for bedrooms and media rooms. For light-filtering fabric, some soft light still passes through the sheers.
Do they block UV and help with energy?
Yes. The sheer layers diffuse glare, the vanes block UV when closed to protect your furnishings, and the fabric layers add insulation that eases heating and cooling.
Can they be motorized?
Yes — with remote, app, and voice control through Alexa, Google Home, or Apple HomeKit. Cordless and motorized options are safest around children and pets, and rechargeable batteries typically last 6–12 months.
How do I clean them?
Gently — dust with a soft brush or vacuum brush attachment, and spot-clean lightly if needed. The delicate sheer fabric isn't suited to heavy scrubbing, which is why we don't recommend them for kitchens or playrooms.
